Robert Arneson, Casualty In The Art Realm, 1979
ENGLISH
Casualty in the Art Realm is a monumental clay work of a painter’s palette. It features an imprint of a body surrounded by satirical text on art and color. Robert Arneson (1930-1992) was a U.S. artist known for blurring the line between art and craft. He transformed ceramics from utilitarian vessels to non-functional sculptures, addressing human conditions with humor and critique. Arneson, along with other funk artists, challenged conventional art forms and norms. His pieces continue to provoke thought and reflection on the nature of art and its societal roles.
